Jennifer Sarmento is Kyle's mom and is the Executive Director of the Foundation. "We started the foundation to honor Kyle and for his life to continue making a difference just as he did when he was here with us.  Before losing Kyle, I had never heard of SCA in youth.  I want to share what I know now with our community to bring awareness to SCA. I also want to make sure another mother never has to go through the pain of losing a child as I have to SCA. By talking about SCA in youth, and sharing my experience, my hope is that it will help  someone avoid that heartache and loss." ​

Allison Taylor is Kyle’s younger sister, and she is so excited to be an official member of the board of the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation. She graduated from Colorado State University in May 2023 with a degree in Health and Exercise Science. She works as a Sales Coordinator for an AED manufacturer "It is important to me to be apart of this foundation not only because it is for my brother but because I think SCA is a huge, avoidable health problem that not enough people know about. I believe that one day everyone will be aware of SCA and no one will ever have to lose one of their loved ones again to this terrible condition."

Michael Sarmento is committed to the prevention, response to, and education of youth and parents regarding Sudden Cardiac Arrest. "Our family is missing one of our essential pieces. Simply stated "You don't know what you don't know." I now know too much not to help our local community. The loss of Kyle changed the landscape of my life forever. The bigger impact was that the world lost a beautiful soul, a kind young man, one of life's great enthusiasts, and a one of a kind sense of humor. I am forever proud of Kyle. Sports physicals set the bar far too low in identifying risk. There is a better way. The passion to protect the community is our way of amplifying Kyle's kindness."

Adam Czerny is a recent graduate of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA where he studied financial management at the college of business. He will begin his career working at Apple. Adam met Kyle during his time in middle school where they became close friends in the classroom and on the soccer team. “Kyle was a large part of the joy I experienced during my childhood and I have cherished every story we have shared together. I am excited to be a part of the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation so we can spread awareness and impact the lives of young student-athletes by helping the prevention of SCA in our community. I want to make sure a young athlete doesn’t have to lose their best friend and can continue making memories together on and off the field.” ​

Rob Moore is a committed community organizer, policy analyst, and fierce advocate in the non-profit, government, and politics space. He has worked with and for numerous elected officials at all levels of government and is currently working for a local non-profit. He holds a degree in Political Science from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, graduated from Leigh High with Kyle "I became involved with the KJTF first for Kyle and his family but moreover, to help ensure others do not experience sudden cardiac arrest. My Uncle Jimmy also passed away from sudden cardiac arrest, so this is a very personal issue to me. I see the non-profit advocacy of the KJTF as key to fighting heart disease and hope to help pass substantive legislation that will protect all of our loved ones from sudden cardiac arrest."

Kylie Clark brings to the foundation her grant writing and public relations skills. She has held several positions at various nonprofits and is thrilled to contribute her knowledge to such a deserving and important cause.  Kylie currently works at Downtown Streets Tam as an Outreach Case Manager.  In this position , she does outreach at homeless encampments throughout Marin County,  She helps connect them to services to help them obtain housing, employment, and other needs. "While I didn't know Kyle, I have grown close to many of his friends and have loved getting to know his family. I feel lucky to get to serve on the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation, because I know what a wonderful human Kyle was and feel connected to him through this work" ​

Shun Kato is a recent graduate of Chapman University and is on the pre-med track.  "Kyle is one of my best friends and we played soccer together for 6 years.  Whether it was practices, road trips to game or just hanging out, we spent most of our lives by each other's side.  Losing Kyle was the most devastating event in my life and has changed my career aspirations and motivations to become a pediatric cardiologist.  As someone who aspires to provide medical services to my community for the rest of my life, the work that the Kyle's family are doing has inspired me to get more involved in the foundation.  I have learned alot from this foundation and started a college branch at Chapman called Be KYnd To Your Heart Foundation.  Being able to continue Kyle's legacy and honor him by providing services to my local communities in San Jose and Orange County has meant the world to me.  I plan to continue this work for the rest of my life and help one less family, best friend or loved one from the same devastation we felt when we lost Kyle. Kyle, I hope I am able to make a fraction of the impact you had on your community during my time with the foundation.  Love and miss you everyday."

Kyle Archibald is a recent graduate of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, CA where he studied mechanical engineering. "I met Kyle on my very first day of kindergarten, where upon learning we had the same name, we became best friends instantly. Thankfully, that friendship only got stronger as Kyle and I continued to grow up together, and he was by my side throughout the most important moments of my childhood and young adulthood. Kyle was the brightest light I have ever been around, and he has had a bigger impact on my life than anyone else. Kyle's passing was crushing, and I aspire to live in a world where losing loved ones to Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a thing of the past. It is for this reason I feel so proud to be a part of the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation, and I hope to honor my friend's legacy by spreading information & resources regarding SCA to the community around me. In my short time with the Foundation, I feel I have learned so much, and seen so much good done.  I will continue to be a part of this organization for the rest of my life"

Jared King is currently an art student at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. "I have known Kyle since kindergarten and he has always been like a brother to me. 'Dream Big' was always our motto and I always admired that about Kyle...  Nothing was ever too big to accomplish and he always believed in you the way he believed in himself. When Kyle passed at 18 my whole perspective on life had changed and I wanted to learn more about cardiac arrest in youth and how to prevent it. Being a part of this foundation has allowed me to do just that and I will continue this work along side Jen and Mike and the rest of the team so that the youth can "Dream Big" without the worry of being taken away"

Lia Nakabayashi is a recent graduate of Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo where she studied sociology, with a minor in event planning & experience marketing management. Lia works at Hologic, a biotech company that is primarily focused on improving women's health, as an experience specialist. "I feel so fortunate to have known and grown up with Kyle in my life. Losing a force like him at such a young age is something no one should ever have to experience. I joined the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation in hopes to reduce exactly that - to minimize the risk as much as I possibly can, of people losing their loved ones to Sudden Cardiac Arrest. In doing so, I am here to help educate and bring awareness around the topic of SCA, so that a friend, parent, or sibling doesn't have to lose another youth in this way. With the amazing work this foundation has already accomplished, I hope to add value to the mission and truly make a lasting impact, the kind that Kyle made on me."

Shayan Akhtari completed his degree in Marketing from Chapman University and now works in product management and marketing at a Bay Area biotechnology startup. Shayan first met Kyle his freshman year at Leigh High School. “Like several of our KJTF team members Kyle was a close friend of mine throughout high school. I remember him as a hilarious, spontaneous, and deeply considerate person, which I think says a lot given our age at the time. I was honored to be asked to join the KJTF Team and I hope my marketing experience will help grow this organization to a place where all students and student athletes in California and beyond have easy access to Sudden Cardiac Arrest knowledge, screenings, and more. All doing so in the name of my friend, Kyle.”

Lisa Walker is serving as the Volunteer coordinator for General Volunteers to staff our youth heart screenings.  Lisa is a lifelong friend of Kyle’s family and has served as a volunteer since the inception of the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation heart screenings.  "I highly value supporting the Foundations’ mission, and I am proud to offer my service in honor of Kyle’s beautiful and joyful spirit."

Renée Hugins has been a family friend for 40 years and is honored to be a Volunteer Co-Coordinator for the foundation. She has volunteered at many events and is looking forward to adding more medical and community volunteers to help educate and screen youth. "Kyle was an amazing human and he will continue to touch others through the work of the Kyle J. Taylor Foundation."
